VIDEO: Alan Keating and a Cooler for $1,238,000 - When a Trap Turns into a Catastrophe
Alan Keating once again demonstrated why he is one of the most notable figures in the high stakes cash game scene. During the latest Super High Roller Cash Game at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas, with blinds of $500/$1,000, he found himself in a massive clash against Darin Feinstein, which quickly turned into one of the most brutal coolers of recent weeks.
Feinstein limped with J h J d , Kirk Brown raised to $19,000, and Keating simply called from the big blind with Q h Q d . When Feinstein subsequently 3-bet to $90,000, Brown folded, but Keating continued with his subtle trap. The flop K s 8 c 5 d added tension, Feinstein bet $100,000 and Keating once again just called. The true impact came later when the board revealed Q c and J s, placing both players in a set-over-set situation. On the river, Keating went all-in, Feinstein called instantly, but instead of victory, he faced the harsh reality. The pot worth $1,238,000 went to Keating, who in approximately four minutes made over half a million dollars.
