Alex Foxen’s Dominance and Ausmus’s Curse
The seventh event of the series with a $10,100 buy-in attracted 70 entries, creating a prize pool of $700,000. The final day was marked by Alex Foxen's absolute control, entering the final battles with about 55% of all chips in play. Applying relentless pressure, he dominated the final table, earning a well-deserved title.
The most intriguing aspect was the tournament's conclusion. In heads-up play, Foxen faced Jeremy Ausmus, who suffered his third loss in a final match during this year's USPO series.
The cherry on top is that just three days earlier, Ausmus was similarly defeated by Alex's wife, Kristen Foxen, in the fourth event of the series. Together, the Foxens deprived Ausmus of two gold eagles in quick succession, collectively dominating the current season.
The heads-up lasted just a single hand. Ausmus attempted a daring all-in bluff with 8 c 5 h, but Foxen, holding 7 s 3 s with two pairs on the board 4 c K s 3 c 4 s 7 c, called instantly. With this victory, Alex Foxen claimed his 13th PGT trophy, matching Sam Soverel's record for most titles on the PokerGO Tour.
